Although strategy games that have been around for thousands of years are still played every day (backgammon, chess, Go) the rise of the internet and video games has introduced a new genre.
Unlike the strategy games of the past, today's online games can often have an unlimited number of players. There are games for every interest group and they are played ardently by men and women.
As more and more women become interested in online games they have changed from the blood and gore military type game to games focusing on the agility of the mind and thinking capability of the players.
But will these games survive? It is doubtful they will live for centuries as the games of the past. Every day a new game is introduced, some of them create a great buzz, but, months later the hype is over and the game is abandoned.
