Go, a strategic game that originates in China has become popular in the West in recent times. It is a game played by two people, originally on a board with a grid of 17×17, but is now commonly played with a grid of 19×19. Smaller boards are used, especially by beginners.
The winner of the game is the player who has control of most of the board. The way one gets control is to either surround the largest number of empty points on the board as well as have taken the highest number of your opponents stones. Another method of scoring is based on the number of points that your stones surround.
The stones are black and white but black stones are more valuable than white. It is a game of strategy because each player has to take both defensive and offensive positions.
