At one time players of games had to be face to face. Even in strategy games, players would meet and lay out their game pieces and reenact their war moves. Since the internet, games can now be played on-line with people from all over the world.
There can be many players in an on-line strategy game because space is not an issue. Many game companies make playing with other players on-line easier by incorporating access to on-line services in the package. Warcraft is such a game. You can join an on-line group of players based on your skill level and all participate together without ever meeting.
On-line strategy games are usually played by hard core gamers. They are known to spend hours every day playing strategy games.
